Reasons To Study At University of Bolton

Teaching Excellence Framework

Granted silver status in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), we aim for a teaching intensive, research informed approach. In practice this means quality teaching, mentoring and support for students alongside practical placements, experiments and field trips wherever possible, all underpinned by high quality research with an emphasis on industry needs.

Friendly Atmosphere

If you’re looking for a home-from-home university where you can study for your future career in fantastic facilities with people who know your name, we’re for you. Many of our students learn in small groups where tutors know them and collaboration is encouraged, we find it brings out the best in everyone. Our programmes are academically strong and designed to challenge you. We want to work with you, not lecture at you, so we don’t have those 500-seater lecture theatres where you are just a face in the crowd.

All About Clearing...

What is Clearing?

Even though you have answered some eligibility questions and been told you have a provisional place, you still need to make a formal application to the university. Your provisional place is only valid as long as the course isn’t full, and until you apply we can’t secure your place for you.

What Will I Need to Have Before Calling?

Why Do I Need To Call Before Refering My Application?

Even though you have answered some eligibility questions and been told you have a provisional place, you still need to make a formal application to the university.

After You Have Called The Clearing Hotline Remember To Formally Apply

Your provisional place is only valid as long as the course isn’t full, and until you apply we can’t secure your place for you.

From 15 August you will be able to submit a direct application to the university provided you haven’t made any applications through UCAS for the academic year 2019/20. If you’re unsure of how to complete your application, or which method you need to follow please get in touch or take a look at the FAQs we have put together.

How To Make A Formal Application

It’s important to follow the instructions we have sent after you gave us a call. If you have made any applications this year through UCAS you will need to refer your application through UCAS Track. If you need any help doing this, give us a call on 0808 281 1111 and we can see what we can help with. Sometimes it might be that you need to contact UCAS directly, but we can have a look if there’s anything we can do.

Make A Well Informed Decision

If you’ve made an application (or will be soon) to study an on campus course with us then please come along to one of our dedicated Clearing open days.

Dates available are:

Friday 16 August (Course Advice Day) 10:00 – 15:00
Saturday 17 August 09:00 - 15:00
Thursday 5 September (Course Advice Day) 14:00 - 18:00

Visiting a university that you are planning to apply to or have already applied to is a brilliant way to get a ‘feel’ for the place; our campus, halls and Bolton tours are all student led and there is a tutor available from each subject area throughout the day.

You’ll be able to get advice about funding, scholarships and accommodation at the open day as well as submitting your halls of residence application.

If you’re having trouble filling in your application, someone will be able to help you do this at the open day – please come along to the information desk to ask. If you can’t make it to one of the open days then please book your place on a campus tour.
